Yun Yee Tong was established in 1995 by Sifu Thomas Tang. Founded in San Jose, California, Yun Yee Tong aims to promote the Jow Ga style of Kung Fu, Lion, and Dragon Dance to students of all ages. As a branch of Yun Yee Tong in Vietnam, Yun Yee Tong USA practices the style of Jow Ga Kung Fu developed by Jow Biu. 

In present day, Yun Yee Tong is located at 1740 Morrill Avenue in San Jose, California and continues to practice the Jow Ga style, preserving the culture of Chinese Kung Fu, Dragon, and Lion Dance. 

Sifu Thomas Tang has loved martial arts since childhood. In 1977, he began studying Jow Ga Boxing and various weapons under Grandmaster Lau Kin Cheung, the head coach of Yun Yee Tong Vietnam. Through hard work and diligent practice, he gained the favor of his master. After five years of training, he was promoted to assistant instructor. Over the following years, he humbly received further teachings and fully grasped the essence of Jow Ga Boxing. In 1989, he was promoted to instructor and became an inner disciple of Grandmaster Lau Kin Cheung, continuing to pass on various Jow Ga secrets. He also studied authentic traditional Southern and Northern Lion Dance techniques under Master Lau Siu-Zan. Additionally, Master Lau Wing Coeng and Master Can Gau personally taught him Shaolin Hard Qigong and Shaolin Grappling Hands.

Sifu Thomas Tang arrived in the United States in 1991 and was authorized by his master to teach martial arts in America to continue spreading Jow Ga Kung Fu. After years of preparation, in 1995, he established the Jow Ga Yun Yee Tong Martial Arts Southern and Northern Lion Dance Golden Dragon Troupe in San Jose, California. On December 19, 2004, he opened the Yun Yee Tong Traditional Kung Fu Academy in Milpitas, California, where he personally teaches Jow Ga Kung Fu and Southern and Northern Lion Dance techniques. He emphasizes both martial arts skills and moral integrity, gaining great popularity among parents and students. Today, the academy has grown into a vibrant, young, and strong martial arts team that has been invited to perform at numerous celebrations, martial arts competitions, National Day and New Year parades, and other events, earning widespread praise from all sectors of society. The academy has now become a prominent emerging martial arts school in the Bay Area.

Yun Yee Tong Vietnam was founded by Lau Ho Leung, the inner disciple of Master Jow Biu, in the Vietnamese overseas Chinese martial arts community. In the martial arts world of Vietnamese Chinese, Lau Ho Leung is a household name. Master Lau Kin Cheung, the eldest son of Master Lau Ho Leung, inherited his father’s teachings and spread Shaolin Zhou Family Kung Fu worldwide. Sifu Thomas Tang, a talented and refined young man, inherited the righteous and heroic spirit of Yun Yee Tong, and has truly become a rising star in the martial arts world.
